CHEC office in South Africa received a letter of acceptance from TRANSNET and was awarded Ngqura Port dredging project , on Nov. 23. The value of the contract is ZAR 135,583,690.68 (approximately equivalent to USD 19.2 million). The project has been the first project which CHEC has successfully bid for in South Africa and also the first infrastructure construction project awarded to a Chinese enterprise by TRANSNET.

Founded at the end of 2007, the Office over the past years has not only expanded the market of South Africa and surrounding countries actively but also overcome many difficulties and managed to obtain various qualifications required by local region. Local engineering construction companies of South Africa have powerful strength on the whole and many high thresholds have been set due to local protectionism. Therefore, it is a great challenge for CHEC to enter local market.

In response to such particularity, the Office fully utilized the advantage of China Communications Construction Company Limited (“CCCC”) as the largest dredging company in the world and won Ngqura Port dredging project at the first attempt.

At present, CHEC and its office in South Africa are actively preparing for commencing of the project and strive to efficiently complete the project at high quality so as to create a favorable situation for the development of CHEC or even CCCC in the market of South Africa.
