With Amoras the Flemish Government is securing a lasting and environmentally sound solution for the large amount of sediment dredged annually by the Port of Antwerp – said Freddy Aerts, Chairman of the Belgian Section of CEDA (Ministry of Flanders, Belgium) – when welcoming CEDA members and guests to Amoras after a delicious hosted lunch. Further, he explained that the acronym A.M.O.R.A.S. stands for “Antwerpse Mechanische Ontwatering, Recyclage en Applicatie van Slib” (Antwerp Mechanical Dewatering, Recycling and Application of Silt).

The technical visit was organised by the Belgian Section of CEDA and hosted by SeReAnt, a joint venture company within which group of specialised contractors (Dredging International, Jan De Nul, DEC and Envisan) co-operate.

In his introduction before the guided tour, Mr Joris Dockx, Ministry of Flanders emphasized that Amoras meets all contemporary ecological demands, pursuing maximum efficiency of used energy in every phase of the process applied. Seeing the high-tech, innovative solutions throughout the treatment chain left no doubt about this in anyone. The visit to Amoras was folloed by the CEDA’s Annual General meeting 2010 during which Anders Jensen CEDA President (Femern A/S, Denmark) gave a brief report about CEDA’s activities and achievements in the past year.
