Wilhelmsen Ships Service (WSS) Finland last week announced a new Agency Network Agreement which will strengthen the company’s coverage of thirteen key ports around the country’s coastline. The announcement coincided with an Open House event which celebrated 150 years of the company.

Invited customers from the Helsinki area were able to experience a demonstration of work within the welding workshop as well as an exhibition of the company’s newest products, including Gamazyme products, gas welding equipment, a new Ultrasonic machine, Unitor CIP, air tools, immersion suits including the test kit, life rafts, life jackets and chemical suits. Guests were also able to view the WSS premises and try their hands at welding and plasma cutting.

“ Our customers felt honoured to have been invited to celebrate 150 years with us, ” commented Anita Akerlund , General Manager for Finland.

“ They feel that it is important to have a reliable 150-year-old company as a supplier and expect even better service from us over the next 150 years! The celebration was sealed with the announcement of our new agency network agreement which will provide high quality and cost competitive agency services in the ports of Finland .”

Prior to the Open House event, WSS participated in the Aland Maritime exhibition, aimed at introducing shipping careers to new recruits and school children. Mariehamn, the capital of Aland island (a region of Finland) is also celebrating a 150 year anniversary in 2011.
