MHF Services (MHF), a leading provider of packaging, transportation and logistics, has been awarded two contracts by General Electric Company to provide railcars and railcar liners for the 2011 phase of the Hudson River Sediment Remediation Project.

The Hudson River Sediment Remediation Project is one of the largest environmental dredging projects ever undertaken in the United States. The five- to seven-year project will remove approximately 2.4 million cubic yards of sediment from a 40-mile stretch of the river north of Albany, N.Y.

MHF will provide the project with privately sourced 52-foot mill gondola railcars, MHF Super Load Wrappers™ , and technical support. The MHF proprietary Super Load Wrapper™ is certified as an Industrial Package by the United States Department of Transportation and approved by the EPA.

The MHF railcars and Super Load Wrappers™ will be used to package and transport the dredged sediment from GE’s project-dedicated rail yard in Ft. Edward, NY to various facilities for disposal. MHF provided similar services on Phase 1 of the project, which took place during 2009 and 2010.

“ We are pleased to continue to assist GE in this new phase of the project ,” said Robert F. Shawver , President and CEO of MHF. “ We recognize the importance of this project and our role in supporting the efficient, secure, and reliable movement of the material.”
