The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District, awarded a contract to King Fisher Marine Service LP in the amount of $2,591,708.05 to dredge the Houston Ship Channel from the Exxon Mobile Docks to Carpenters Bayou in Harris County, Texas.

The contractor is required to remove approximately 1.5 million cubic yards of shoal material using a pipeline dredge.

“ This dredge work allows us to fulfill our mission of keeping waterways open, making way for vessels to navigate to the Port of Houston which contributes to the economic strength of the nation ,” said Karl Brown , an operations manager with USACE Galveston. “ A portion of the dredged material will be placed into the Lost Lake placement area near the Lynchburg Ferry and at Peggy Lake just north of La Porte, Texas.”

Work will begin in October and is scheduled to be completed within three months.
