Developers of a recommended luxury marina in Victoria’s harbor are hoping the federal officials will reach a decision on the project by the end of the year.

A navigable waters permit has been allowed by Transport Canada in May 2010 and green lights from Fisheries and Oceans Canada and Environment Canada for a 52-slip marina have been received.

Following a rezoning by the City of Victoria in September 2010, the $19-million project was decreased to a 29-slip development.

The marina is taking reservations for slips, which would be ready to manage 20 to 45 meters long vessels.

Prior to the dredging of the seabed under the marina site, federal approvals are required. The next window for dredging would take place in July 2012. The marina would open in 2013 if the undertakings start next year, said Lachlan MacLean, vice-president of WAM Development Group.
