The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Galveston District, awarded a contract to Mason Construction Co., in the amount of $3,765,050 to dredge the Freeport Harbor Entrance Channel, Jetty Channel, and Lower Turning Basin in Brazoria County, Texas.
The contractor is required to remove approximately 1.5 million cubic yards of material using a Hopper dredge.
“Dredging in this area is conducted on an annual basis to support safe and reliable navigation to Port Freeport and industry along the channel, ” said Operations Manager Tricia Campbell, USACE Galveston District .
Work will begin in January and is scheduled to be completed by April.
