The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) has opened the bidding process for the P84.48-million dredging project of the Port of Zamboanga.

The port authority is also seeking tenders for the expansion of the Port of Matnog in Sorsogon.

The PPA said the Port of Zamboanga project involves dredging the berthing and maneuvering areas at the wharf, located in Zamboanga del Sur.

The project, which includes rock breaking, blasting, dredging or removal of broken rock or coral formations, and disposal of dredged or excavated soil materials, is expected to be completed after 200 calendar days.

Bids in excess of the approved budget for the project will be automatically rejected, the PPA said.

A pre-bidding conference was held on December 23, and the submission of bids is scheduled for January 5, 2012.
