Nicaragua plans to extend dredging operations in the San Juan River to remove sediment dumped by Costa Rica with the construction of a road in the South Bank, Government sources certified on Friday.
The commander Eden Pastora also said that the government will try to stop the ecological crime committed by the Costa Rican administration in part of the common border, which includes an area of wetlands and protected areas.
The Government of Nicaragua presented a little more than a week before the International Court of Justice (ICJ) a lawsuit against Costa Rica for serious environmental damage and violations of its sovereignty.
He also denounced the situation in the Central American Court of Justice and sent reports to the International Convention on Wetlands, Ramsar and other international organizations for the violation of numerous treaties.
