Ron Foley, Long Island’s Regional Director of State Parks, said that the dredging project on the Nissequogue River State Park was completed successfully last week.

He also stated that the marina will operate as normal in the coming years.

The Nissequogue River State Park is located on the north shore of Long Island. A variety of habitats, including tidal and fresh water wetlands and hardwood forests, provides home to a variety of shore birds, reptiles and amphibians.

According to Mike Rosato, Chairman of the Nissequogue River State Park Foundation, the dredging, redesign and upgrading of the marina have been a priority of the parks department for several years.

The Nissequogue River State Park dredging project is being funded by money left over from the capital budget.

This area should have a deeper channel to be more useable at high or low tide, concluded Foley.
