The completion of the Keystone Harbor dredging project is scheduled for this week.

Approximately 1,100 cubic yards of sediment is being removed each night depending on external circumstances.

The sediment is being used to replenish the beach parts that have been eroding in recent years.

“High-speed cross winds, tidal conditions and shallow depths keep affecting sailings on a regular basis, ” stated Marta Coursey , spokeswoman for Washington State Ferries.

Total estimated cost of this project is more than $800,000.

The harbor was last dredged in 2006 due to what the navigation of ferries has considerably been put to the test.
