According to the Congressman Mike McIntyre’s office, the Carolina Beach Inlet dredging is one step closer to realization.

The agreement between the United States Army Corps of Engineers and the state of North Carolina was approved and it will allow the state and local communities to pay the Army Corps for this dredging project.

“ The Carolina Beach waterways are critical to commercial and recreation fishermen and the tourism industry ,” say the State leaders.

Some fishermen in Carolina Beach are predicting rough seas if dredging in their inlet isn’t carried out soon.

Captain Robert Schoonmaker says: “ The situation looks pretty bad already. It’s been shoaling up. It’s been slowing filling in and we’ve called and talked to different people but nobody really knew how bad the situation was .”
