The Water Resources Division (WRD) of the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) will hold a public hearing at the City of the Village of Douglas City Hall, Council Room, 86 West Center Street, Douglas, Michigan 49406, on Wednesday, February 22, 2012, at 7:00 p.m.

The purpose of this hearing is to secure the views of interested persons concerning the following application for permit:

Application for permit 11-03-0082-P under Part 301, Inland Lakes and Streams, of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act, 1994 PA 451, as amended, by Tower Marine, Attn: Mr. R. J. Peterson, P.O. Box 188, Douglas, Michigan 49406.

The applicant proposes to dredge an emergency channel along the west side of Kalamazoo Lake for the purpose of removing accumulated silt to provide sufficient depth for navigation and access to docks. Approximately 22,000 cubic yards of sediment will be removed up to 3 feet deep from a channel approximately 4,000 feet long by 50 feet wide. Maintenance dredging, as needed, is proposed.

Dredge spoils will be temporarily placed on site in an established upland location. The project is located in T3N, R16W, Section 16, City of Saugatuck, Allegan County, Michigan.
