Avalon Borough Council authorized a placement of an additional 14,000 cubic yards of sand on the beach, bringing the new total to 74,000 cubic yards of sand instead of the original 60,000.
“Our beach will be renourished and replenished well in advance of the spring and summer tourism season,” stated Scott Wahl , Public Information Officer.
This extra sand will extend the project from 26th Street north to 11th Street.
Officials say the replenishment will provide protection for the community during coastal storms, and make the beaches more enjoyable for both residents and tourists.
