According to Macauhub, the revenues at Mozambican state rail and port management company Empresa Portos e Caminhos de Ferro de Moçambique (CFM) in 2011 rose 20 percent against the previous year and totalled 1.645 billion meticals.
The chairman of the Board of Directors of CFM, Rosário Mualeia, said at a meeting held in Pemba, Cabo Delgado, that the trains carried 4.1 million passengers in 2011, as compared to 3.5 million in 2010, which was a rise of 14.7 percent.
“The project to dredge the access channel into the port of Beira had been finished making it possible for large draft ships, with capacity of 60,000 tons, ” concluded Mualeia.
