The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, St. Paul District, awarded a $2.1 million contract to Earthwork Technologies, Inc., of Red Lake, Minn., to stabilize an eroding river bank along the Crow River north of Delano, Minn., March 29.
The Crow River Streambank Stabilization Project will fix erosion along the river bank adjacent to County Road 50. The ongoing erosion resulted in a nearly vertical face approximately 50 feet in height that threatens the road’s stability.
Under the contract, approximately 500 feet of river bank will be stabilized. The project calls for the temporary removal of a portion of the road and the excavation of the existing bank. A rock base will be placed along the river bank and a stabilized, soil reinforced slope will extend up to the road elevation.
Construction of the project is expected to run from later this spring to the fall of 2012.
