By obtaining a dredging permit, the S.S. Keewatin, a 104-year-old steamship is closer to coming home to Port McNicoll.
The man tasked to bring the ship back home, Eric Conroy , has secured the final dredging permit necessary for the ship’s voyage. The permit was issued by the Michigan officials.
According to Simcoe.com, Conroy stated: “ We plan to dredge the end of April, moving the ship to the mouth of the Kalamazoo River by the end of the third week of May.”
The S.S. Keewatin, the vessel which has been a tourist attraction for over four decades, will be officially returned to Port McNicoll on June 23.
