According to the Lautoka City Council,the Vunato River dredging will begin once the weather clears.
“ We want to lessen the amount of water that travels through the river and that can only be done through dredging ,” stated Praveen Bala, the Special administrator .
On Wednesday Mr Bala accompanied Commissioner Western Commander Joeli Cawaki on a tour of the river.
The river mouth is blocked by mangroves and debris.
