On April 20, the JSW Jaigarh Port held a trade meet at Ratnagiri to apprise importers, exporters, shipping agents, Custom house agents and transporters on the developments being undertaken at the port, according to Exim India.
Amongst the distinguished dignitaries present were Mr N. K. Jain, Chairman of JSW Jaigarh Port, Mr Ashok Agarrwal, CEO of JSW Ispat Steel Ltd, Capt. B. V. J. K. Sharma, Vice-Chairman of JSW Jaigarh Port, and senior officials from Konkan Railway and Customs.
Mr Pranab Jha, Head – Business Development, made a detailed presentation on port development, location, berth details, the strengths of the port, Master Plan, rail-road connectivity and productivity benchmarks, and spoke about the several activities being undertaken by the port.
JSW Jaigarh Port Ltd, a subsidiary of JSW Infrastructure Ltd, has set up a greenfield, multi-cargo, deepwater port in Damankhol Bay, Jaigarh in the Ratnagiri district of Maharashtra. Located in the protected surroundings of Jaigarh head between the two Major Ports of Mumbai and Mormugao, it endeavours to be the port of choice for customers in western Maharashtra and northern Karnataka and offers customised cargo handling solutions at competitive rates.
The port has 2 berths with mechanised facility for handling 20 million tonnes of bulk cargo. Its present draught of 14 metres makes it the deepest private port on the Maharashtra coast.
