According to CBC News, the Halifax Port Authority has acquired close to three acres of land from CN as part of a $35-million expansion of the south-end container terminal.
The parcels are on Marginal Road adjacent to the Halterm container pier.
“ We are not disclosing the price,” Michele Peveril , spokeswoman for the port authority, said in an email to CBC News.
Peveril said the land deal is part of an expansion currently underway that includes dredging and a pier extension.
“As part of this project we are reconfiguring the truck marshalling yard, terminal entrance and realigning a portion of Marginal Road as it is a tight turn for trucks, ” Peveril concluded.
