The Office of Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is implementing its flood prevention scheme on the assumption that the flood will hit Bangkok as it did in 2011.
After a meeting with BMA executives, BMA Spokesperson Mr. Wasan Meewong said that related agencies have coordinated to quickly prepare Bangkok for possible flooding, given the recent amount of rain.
Bangkok Governor has already, according to Mr. Wasam, told those tasked with dredging the canals and unclogging sewers in 18 districts of Bangkok to pick up the pace. High-capacity water pumps will be installed to assure that they can handle flood water.
He said this year’s flood prevention plan has been devised based on the crisis last year to make it more efficient and effective in keeping the capital city out of trouble.
