Divers have spent the week installing an automatic control system on Faversham Creek’s sluice gates, reports thisiskent.co.uk.
The three-week operation will allow more water to be retained in the basin behind the bridge.
The dive team has also been clearing tons of rubbish.
“ Leaks in the gates have been sealed and that means there will be much more water in the basin .” said S wale Councillor Mike Cosgrove, chairman of the Faversham Creek Collective .
Medway Ports Authority will be dredging near the gates and removing more rubbish.
The new system will provide a much better outlook and water will flow into the creek more efficiently.
