According to nctimes.com, a $22.5 million beach replenishment project is just weeks away from its scheduled start date to put sand on many San Diego County beaches, but it’s still uncertain whether the dredging equipment will arrive as scheduled.
“Right now, we’re … looking at Aug. 20th as the start date, but I will tell you it’s really subject to change, ” Shelby Tucker, project manager for the San Diego Association of Governments , said in an interview last week.
North County officials are eagerly anticipating the arrival of the dredge, which will suck sand from underwater berms well offshore and pump it onto many area beaches.
The southern end of Oceanside’s beachfront, Carlsbad’s north and south beaches, three spots in Encinitas and two in Solana Beach are all poised to get much-needed sand from the dredging work.
