The Saudi Ports Authority (SPA) signed a number of contracts worth SR 615 million (US$164m) for the development of King Abdul Aziz Port in Dammam, Dhuba Port in Tabuk, King Fahd Industrial Port in Yanbu and Yanbu Commercial Port.
According to arabiansupplychain.com, a container wharf will be constructed at Dhuba at a cost of SR 174.46 million and two wharfs at King Fahd port spending SR 144.38 million.
A new wharf for services and receiving ships, recreation boats and yachts will be established in Yanbu port at a cost of SR 103.97 million.
Abdul Aziz Al-Tuwaijri , the SPA president , said: “ This wharf at Yanbu Commercial Port will be constructed in cooperation with the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities to promote domestic tourism . The new projects would improve significantly the performance of Saudi ports .“
