The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine requires the services of a suitably qualified and experienced engineering consultancy firm in connection with dredging works, including dredging and disposal of both contaminated and uncontaminated sediments at the Castletownbere Fishery Harbour Centre.
The works comprise dredging of the seabed, including (mainly) maintenance dredging and some capital dredging works, in the vicinity of the syncrolift boat lifting facility at Dinish Island, Castletownbere, Co. Cork.
The works will include, in particular:
– Dredging of silt beneath the syncrolift platform to facilitate the lowering of the platform to its full extent;
– Dredging of silt from beneath the concrete deck (piled structure) of the syncrolift;
– Dredging of a specified area of the seabed adjacent to the syncrolift structure. The exact area will be determined and agreed with the client, based on matters such as allowance for re-siltation;
– Handling, stabilisation and disposal of all dredge materials.
Possible use of part of a previously used constructed lagoon area on Dinish Island for stabilisation of contaminated sediments prior to disposal can be considered.
