Savannah River Deepening Approved (USA)

According to a report made public yesterday, the commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has approved a $652 million dredging of the Savannah River shipping channel. According to a report made public yesterday, the commander of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has approved a $652 million dredging of the Savannah River shipping channel.

The final decision on the Savannah project is expected in November, reports cnbc.com.

Curtis Foltz, the Georgia Ports Authority Executive Director , said: “The entire project was expected to be finished by 2016 .”

The plan includes removing of a 24 million cubic yards of sediment from the waterway.
