The dredger Port Frederick has been moved to the Coomera River to shift about 43,000 cubic metres of sand to Gold Coast beaches.
Gary Baildon, the chairman of the Gold Coast Waterways Authority said that this dredging project at the Coomera River mouth will have wider benefits.
“That is going to allow much larger boats to go up there to be serviced, that’s going to create a lot of jobs in that marine precinct and we know that that area’s been struggling with the downturn in the economy in recent years, ” stated Baildon.
