The City of Clearwater released its 2012 progress report on implementing its Floodplain Management Plan. The plan, which helps to identify areas in the city that are prone to flooding, enables residents to obtain discounts on flood insurance.
The plan serves as a five-year outlook of what residents can expect when it comes to stormwater and flooding. Some changes and progress from the last update in 2009 include the following:
• The city continues to participate in the FEMA Project Impact Program to help reduce the impacts of natural disasters.
• Clearwater added several new online features to help residents, property owners, property professionals, and others to identify the flood zone for a particular property and request elevation certificates.
