“The $37-million Sydney harbour dredging project was completed to engineered specifications that required the navigational channel to be a minimum depth of 16.5 metres, “ the Sydney Ports Corporation said in Tuesday’s announcement.
The dredging project, which began in October last year, was the result of the Port Master Plan commissioned by Sydney Marine Group, a group of various stakeholders operating in and around Sydney harbour.
Capebretonpost.com reports that approximately 4.2 million cubic metres of dredge material was placed into two separate cells in the harbour to add surface area to the greenfield site.
According to the Ports Corporation, the dredge material was deposited successfully at the contained disposal field.
