The International Association of Dredging Companies (IADC) has announced the appointment of Mr. Peter de Ridder as the new President of the Board.

The IADC is the global umbrella organisation for contractors in the private dredging industry, dedicated to promoting the skills, integrity and reliability of its members, as well as the economic, social and environmental influence of the dredging industry in general. The IADC has over one hundred main and associated members.

Mr. De Ridder has been employed at Van Oord nv, an IADC member company, for almost 40 years. He started his career with Van Oord in 1973 at one of the premier maritime infrastructure projects of its day, the Eastern Scheldt barrier, working first as a surveyor and later on as project manager. In 1981 he became project manager at Van Oord’s first major overseas offshore project in Australia. From 1983 to 1991 he was operation manager for Van Oord Offshore and from 1991 to 1994 manager of Van Oord’s Engineering and Estimating department.

As of 1994 Mr. De Ridder joined the Board of Van Oord ACZ and, after the merger with Ballast Ham Dredging in 2003, was appointed Chief Operating Officer of the Board of Van Oord nv, a position he continues to hold. During his years at Van Oord he has been responsible for several internationally acclaimed projects including Singapore’s Changi Airport reclamation, Hong Kong’s Chek Lap Kok Airport reclamation, the Palm Islands and The World in Dubai, Princes Amalia and Belwind Offshore Wind Projects in the North Sea and many other worldwide infrastructure-related projects.

The IADC and its member companies look forward to his leadership as President with his years of expertise and experience. Mr. De Ridder accepted his appointment and thanked retiring President Mr. Jac. G. van Oord, who held this position for 5 years since September 2007, for his many contributions to the successful endeavours of the IADC.
