If the Trinity Inlet dredging plan goes according to plan, the mega cruise ships will be able to dock at the Port of Cairns by the end of 2015.
“ The environmental assessment process was expected to take two years and the dredging about eight months ,” stated Ports North chairman Brett Moller .
The Ports North announced that this project should inject an estimated $436 million into the region’s economy, cairns.com reports.
“ If we are on target, then towards the end of 2015 the first of the mega ships should be docking at the Port of Cairns, ” Moller concluded.
