The dredging project at the Dania Cut Off Canal is nearing its halfway mark, reports sun-sentinel.com.
David Roach, director of the Florida Inland Navigation District , stated: “ The project continues to progress well, and is approximately 40 percent complete .”
The project will increase navigation depths within the canal to facilitate increased mega yacht service and repair business as well as increased shipping services, and is expected to increase marine economic output by $3.6 to $9.2 million per year and add 24 to 38 new jobs.
According to the official website, the dredging has started on July 23, and it will last until March of 2013.
Some expectations are that the project could be completed even earlier, by February.
