Waterways Ireland has announced planned closures of the waterways for the winter of 2012-2013.
GRAND CANAL – MAIN LINE – DUBLIN
Portobello to Inchicore: Level C7 from Portobello to Inchicore will be closed for dredging from 8th October 2012 to 17th March 2013.
Tullamore: The canal in Tullamore is scheduled to be closed from 5th November 2012 to 4th March 2013 to facilitate the construction of three footbridges and a boardwalk by Tullamore Town Council.
GRAND CANAL – BARROW LINE
Rathangan: The canal may be closed in Rathangan for dredging from January 2013 – dates to be confirmed.
ROYAL CANAL
Spencer Dock, Newcomen Bridge: There will be no further lifts of the Newcomen railway bridge until the 2013 boating season.
Blackshade Bridge to Hill of Down: The Royal Canal is closed between Blackshade Bridge and Hill of Down from 1st October 2012 to 17th March 2013 to carry out urgent essential bank strengthening works.
Aghnaskea Bridge to Savage Bridge: The Royal Canal will be closed between Aghnaskea Bridge and Savage Bridge, Killashee, from 1st November 2012 to 20th January 2013 to carry out leakage repairs.
