Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust plans to unveil a new tender for the fourth terminal within two months, reports thehindubusinessline.com.
Port officials are attempting to improve the conditions of the new tender.
“ We are finalising a fresh tender. We are working out some changes in the new tender and will be able to come out with it in two months ,” said Luxman Radhakrishnan, Chairman of JNPT .
The decision occurred after the JNPT canceled the concession with PSA to build and operate the fourth container terminal at Sheva, Navi Mumbai – India’s biggest port expansion project.
“ We regret the decision by the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust board to withdraw the letter of award earlier issued to the PSA-led Consortium for the development of the JNPT4 container terminal project, ” a PSA spokesperson said, according to portfinanceinternational.
JNPT dredging, which should be completed by June 2014, will expand the main channel between Mumbai harbour and the JN Port, and allow larger ships to dock at the port.
JNPT dredging project has received the lowest bid from Dutch company Royal Boskalis Westminster.
