Lee County has started a dredging project around Redfish Point and the Normandy Canal at the Yacht Club Community Park area.

A “spoil staging area” has been established to deposit the dredge material from the operation. The project will remove a foot of fill and lower the depths of the channels to 6 feet.

The dredging project is expected to take about five months to complete. Funding is provided through a West Coast Inland Navigation District grant.

Visitors to the Yacht Club Park should expect to see heavy equipment onsite during the operation. Dump trucks also will be hauling the dredge material from the staging cell to a drying area in the north Cape.
