USA: New River Inlet Dredging About to Begin

The Town submitted the required application to the North Carolina Local Government Commission (LGC) in order to get the commision’s approval to borrow the funds to finance the New River Inlet Channel Realignment Project. The Town submitted the required application to the North Carolina Local Government Commission (LGC) in order to get the commision’s approval to borrow the funds to finance the New River Inlet Channel Realignment Project.

The Commission met on October 2, 2012 and approved the Town’s application unanimously.

This means Marinex Construction can mobilize construction crews as early as November 16th.

Construction Schedule

• Preconstruction Conference – Nov. 13 at Town Hall

• Dredge arrives – Nov. 15th

• Sand placement begins – Nov. 17th

• Dredging activities conclude – Jan. 13th.
