A new dock at the Port of Caddo-Bossier will not be operational until the waterway is dredged, reports seattlepi.com.
Eric England, the port director, stated that the dredging program at the mentioned area hasn’t yet been scheduled because the contractor is working elsewhere on the Red River.
According to England, the $11 million dock is part of the port’s master plan to grow as a multimodal transportation hub.
ABOUT THE PORT
The 2,000-acre Port of Caddo-Bossier is located at the head of navigation on the Red River Waterway in Northwest Louisiana, about four miles south of the city limits of the City of Shreveport.
As an industrial park and inland multi-modal transportation and distribution center, the Port links customers throughout the Ark-La-Tex region to domestic and international markets via the Mississippi River, the nation’s largest river system, and the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway.
