Jackson County Port Authority commissioners approved additional funding for the maintenance dredging disposal site program, reports gulflive.com.

At the beginning of this year, the Port of Pascagoula officials inked an agreement with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for the expansion of the Triple Barrel disposal site, located north of Ingalls Shipbuilding.

This project is on schedule for completion in late 2013.

Another important project, the widening of the Pascagoula Bar Channel from 450 to 550 feet, is expected to begin in 2013, according to portofpascagoula.com.
