U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has introduced a plan for the maintenance dredging of the Susquehanna River.
The proposed work consists of maintenance dredging of one reach of the channel to the authorized dimensions of 200 feet wide and 15 feet mean lower low water (MLLW), plus one foot of allowable overdepth.
Approximately 280,000 cubic yards of dredged material will be transported by pipeline to nearby islands to the channel for habitat creation. This contract will include options for portions of the maintenance dredging in the same reach of the channel as the base maintenance dredging.
The contract period will be approximately 150 calendar days. The contractor must have access to equipment to perform the required dike work and perform the dredging. This should include hydraulic dredging and excavation equipment.
Estimated cost of the services is between $1,000,000.00 – $5,000,000.00.
