The long awaited dredging project on the Hussain Sagar Lake officially began last week, reports thehindu.com.
The dredging program is only a part of the Hussain Sagar Lake and Catchment Area Improvement Project.
This very important project has been launched by the Chief Minister, N. Kiran Kumar Reddy, and will take place at three areas: Balkapur, Picket and Banjara.
The dredged material is planned to be dumped in the existing quarry pits at Jawaharnagar, following the guidelines and monitoring of Andhra Pradesh Pollution Control Board (APPCB), according to hmda.gov.
The Hussain Sagar Lake and Catchment Area Improvement project shall be completed in all aspects by December 2014.
