According to Herb Nash, the chair of the Glace Bay Harbour Association, the harbor dredging project is progressing very well.

He stated that the contractor, J&T Van Zutphen of Port Hood, removed a lot of the material out of the harbour so far, and added: “ They are doing what they can reach from the sides first.”

This 12-week dredging program started on January 8, reports capebretonpost.com.

After the dredging work has been wrapped up, a sound test will be conducted to ensure the harbour is 13-14 feet deep along the sides and 10 feet deep in the middle, the officials with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans small craft harbours branch said.
