The Pokagon Fund has announced that $406,069 in project funding was awarded in January.
The projects that received grant awards include:
• Up to $150,000 to the City of New Buffalo to dredge the harbor. Federal funding used to be available for dredging this federal channel, but hasn’t been forthcoming for some time. This is the third year that The Pokagon Fund has provided funding to dredge the New Buffalo Harbor.
• $105,000 to the Village of Michiana to enhance their public beach access by rebuilding two beach stops, making them handicap accessible, providing seating areas for wheelchairs, and building wider stairs for medical rescues.
