The dredging of Clam Pass has begun.
“I am happy as a clam to announce that the first bucket of sand has been lifted out of the pass!” said District 2 Commissioner Georgia A. Hiller, Esq .
The Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) issued the final modification to the dredging permit on Friday, March 1. The requisite pre-construction conference with state DEP representatives took place on Monday, March 4. That conference was the final element necessary to begin excavation.
The contractor hired by the county to do the dredging, Kyle Construction, is onsite today to complete construction fencing, install silt screening, and to build the haul road.
