Deltares was host on 6 June to Ecuador’s Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation.
Minister Rene Ramirez, who was accompanied by Ecuador’s ambassador to the Netherlands, was visiting Deltares to be introduced to the Institute and to investigate openings for further collaboration.
At present, Deltares is working in Ecuador on resolving flooding problems in the delta of the Guyas River.
Guayaguil, a city located in this delta, is Ecuador’s largest city and it plays a vital role in the country’s economy.
Particularly in the rainy season, the Guyas River regularly bursts its banks.
The last serious floods were in March this year.
