The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Sacramento District released the draft feasibility report and environmental impact report/supplemental environmental impact statement for the Sutter Basin Pilot Feasibility Study for public review, officially opening the 45-day public comment period.

The feasibility study is being conducted by the Corps in partnership with its non-federal cost-sharing partners, California’s Central Valley Flood Protection Board (CVFPB) and the Sutter Butte Flood Control Agency (SBFCA), to investigate the flood risk within the Sutter Basin area and identify potential projects to reduce that risk for those who live and work within the study area.

The proposed project would implement flood risk management measures along the Feather River West Levee alignment over a distance of approximately 41 miles to help reduce the flood risk for nearly 100,000 people and more than 26,000 structures within the Biggs, Gridley, Live Oak and Yuba City communities.

The official 45-day public comment period closes July 29, 2013.
