U.S. Sen. David Vitter called on President Obama to complete an ongoing feasibility study for the West Shore Hurricane Protection Project.

The Fiscal Year 2013 Army Corps of Engineers Spending Plan allocates $828,340 to finalize the study and produce a Chief’s Report next year.

“President Obama promised Louisianians help after Hurricane Isaac, and now he can finish out this feasibility study, instead of waiting for another devastating hurricane to hit,” Vitter said. “I applaud the Corps for making this a priority, and now the President needs to fulfill his commitment.”

President Obama’s Fiscal Year 2014 budget originally zeroed out funding for the West Shore Hurricane Protection Project.

On September 3 2012, President Obama visited LaPlace, Louisiana and surveyed damage caused by Hurricane Issac. During his visit, he pledged to provide federal support for the area.
