Le Tréport is a small town with a small fishing port and light industry, situated in Normandy. It is also famous for its 110 metres high chalk cliffs and the pebbly beach. Together with Eu and Mers-les-Bains, the three towns are known locally as the Three sisters.

Because of its fast siltation all the harbours in Le Tréport requires frequent maintenance dredging campaigns to assure sufficient draught for all its commercial vessels, fishing boats and privately owned sailing and pleasure boats.

The 10 inch cutter suction dredger “Phantom” dredged until the required maintenance depths up to 2.50 m.

With its artificial swing ladder the dredger removed not only the silt from the sailing channel, but also under the jetties and all their boxes. Therefore all big vessels were temporarily removed from their jetty or quay.

All dredged up materials were pumped into a temporary under water depot, where the trailing suction hopper dredger “Christophorush”, re-dredged the silt for transportation to a licensed dumping ground.
