The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District, has introduced a plan for the Buttermilk Bay maintenance dredging program.
During this development project, located in Bourne MA, the contractor will remove approximately 20,000 cubic yards of predominantly sandy sediment by mechanical dredge from the Buttermilk Bay 6-ft and 7-ft navigation channels.
The dredged material will be transported by dump scow approximately 3 miles south to a nearshore dredge material placement site, just south of Mashnee Dike in Phinney’s Harbor.
The estimated cost is between $500,000.00 and $1 mln, and all dredging operations should occur between 1 October 2013, and 14 January 2014, to minimize the impact on natural resources in these areas.
