The Mongla Port dredging program is scheduled to commence during the next month, according to dhakatribune.com.

The main purpose of this development project is to secure the 7.5 m depth around the Mongla jetty and mooring buoy area.

Regarding this dredging plan, the Mongla Port Authority (MPA) signed an agreement yesterday with the lowest bidder in a tender process, the China Harbour Engineering Company, informs dhakatribune.com.

The contract was inked in the presence of the Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan.

As part of the agreement between the MPA and CHEC, the Mongla Port dredging project should be wrapped up within November 2014, stated Jahangir Alam Khan, the Ministry’s Public Relation Officer.
