Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional Infrastructure & Services Andrew Stoner and Member for Coffs Harbour Andrew Fraser recently announced more improvements works for the harbour.

Mr Stoner said the NSW Government would dredge the outer harbour at Coffs Harbour to restore navigation depths for the local fishing fleet and other boaters.

“A recent hydrosurvey of the inner and outer harbour showed there has been significant build-up of sand at the entrance to the boat harbour, with up to 2.5 metres infill in some areas over the past year,” Mr Stoner said.

“It is proposed to move up to 20,000 cubic metres of sand from the entrance to the boat harbour and use it to nourish Park Beach to the north of the harbour.

“This will provide navigable waterway depths of 4.5 metres at low tide.

“Tenders for the project will be issued shortly with the intention to complete the dredging by the end of the year.”

Mr Fraser welcomed the news of the first major harbour dredging since 2009.

“This will come as great news to the yachting fraternity especially in relation to the annual Pittwater to Coffs Harbour Yacht Race and Festival of Sale,” Mr Fraser said.
